Jodie Sweetin Makes an Unusual Comment About Her Relationship with Candace Cameron Bure: "We're in very opposite positions"

Jodie Sweetin opens up about some differences between herself and her Full House co-stars. The 44-year-old actress appeared on Only Child with Bob the Drag Queen, where she and the host discussed her relationship with her Full House siblings after the show ended.

"I think I was very lost, in my teens, early 20s, about what I was supposed to do," she admitted. Sweetin began playing Stephanie Tanner at age 5 and continued until the series finale in 1995, when she was 13.

When Sweetin was asked if she still maintains a relationship with her on-screen siblings, her answer was complex. Of Candace Cameron Bure, who played the Tanners' eldest daughter, D.J., Sweetin says, "Candace does her own thing."

"You know, we're on very opposite sides of the spectrum, and I'm kind of a complainer and outspoken about a lot of things, and that's not going to stop me. And if that's not you, that's not you."

Speaking about Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Sweetin made it clear that there was no affection between her and the twins, whom she considered very close during their childhood, but who are now private.

"They would come over to my house on weekends. I took Mary-Kate and Ashley horseback riding for the first time, and now Mary-Kate has horses and everything. I mean, we used to go to Disneyland together. They would spend weekends with my parents at home. We were very, very close." And I wish them all the best, but I can't imagine all the nonsense they've had to deal with over the years.

When asked if they felt jealous as the twins became more involved in the spotlight, Sweetin responded with the opposite. "No, because I saw how hard they worked to achieve all of that, and I wasn't envious at all," she admitted. "In fact, I always felt really bad that they had to do all of that, because they really missed out on having a childhood." Sweetin says she understands that the two are "very" against being in the public eye these days, adding, "I can't imagine how they must be feeling, with all the attention they get..."

As for her current relationship with them, she says she wishes them well, but there isn't a constant connection.

"When we saw Mary-Kate and Ashley after Bob passed away, it was the first time we'd been together and seen each other in years. Because they were in New York and, sort of, in Europe," she explained.

"I also have to think of it as if I did the show from age 5 to 13. That's your childhood, your memorable years. The truth is, I don't have many memories before the show. They all have to do with people or things I did on it. They started when I was a baby and ended when I was 8."

Unlike Sweetin and Bure, the Olsens declined to return for the Full House reboot, Fuller House, which aired from 2016 to 2020.

Jodie Sweetin se sincera sobre algunas diferencias entre ella y sus coprotagonistas de Full House. La actriz de 44 años apareció en Only Child with Bob the Drag Queen, donde ella y el presentador hablaron sobre su relación con sus hermanos de Full House tras el final del programa.

"Creo que estaba muy perdida, en mi adolescencia, a principios de los 20, sobre qué se suponía que debía hacer", admitió. Sweetin comenzó a interpretar a Stephanie Tanner a los 5 años y continuó hasta el final de la serie en 1995, cuando tenía 13.

Cuando le preguntaron a Sweetin si aún mantiene una relación con sus hermanos en la pantalla, su respuesta fue compleja. Sobre Candace Cameron Bure, quien interpretó a la hija mayor de los Tanner, D.J., Sweetin dice: "Candace hace lo suyo".

"Sabes, estamos en extremos opuestos del espectro, y yo soy un poco quejosa y franca sobre muchas cosas, y eso no me va a detener. Y si ese no eres tú, no eres tú".

Hablando de Mary-Kate y Ashley Olsen, Sweetin dejó claro que no había afecto entre ella y las gemelas, a quienes consideraba muy cercanas durante su infancia, pero que ahora son reservadas.

Venían a mi casa los fines de semana. Llevé a Mary-Kate y Ashley a montar a caballo por primera vez, y ahora Mary-Kate tiene caballos y todo. O sea, solíamos ir juntas a Disneylandia. Pasaban los fines de semana con mis padres en casa. Éramos muy, muy unidas. Les deseo todo lo mejor, pero no me imagino todas las tonterías con las que han tenido que lidiar a lo largo de los años.

Cuando les pregunté si sentían celos a medida que las gemelas se volvían más famosas, Sweetin respondió lo contrario. "No, porque vi cuánto se esforzaron para lograr todo eso, y no sentí envidia en absoluto", admitió. "De hecho, siempre me sentí muy mal por tener que hacer todo eso, porque realmente se perdieron la oportunidad de tener una infancia". Sweetin dice que entiende que ambos estén "muy" en contra de estar en el ojo público últimamente, y añade: "No me imagino cómo se deben sentir, con toda la atención que reciben...".

En cuanto a su relación actual con ellos, dice que les desea lo mejor, pero que no hay una conexión constante.

"Cuando vimos a Mary-Kate y Ashley después del fallecimiento de Bob, fue la primera vez que estuvimos juntos y nos vimos en años. Porque estaban en Nueva York y, en cierto modo, en Europa", explicó.

"También tengo que pensarlo como si hubiera hecho la serie desde los 5 hasta los 13 años. Esa es tu infancia, tus años memorables. La verdad es que no tengo muchos recuerdos antes de la serie. Todos tienen que ver con personas o cosas que hice en ella. Empezaron cuando era bebé y terminaron cuando tenía 8 años".

A diferencia de Sweetin y Bure, las Olsen se negaron a regresar para el reinicio de Full House, Fuller House, que se emitió entre 2016 y 2020.
