Palm Beach Teacher Facing Murder Charge in Fatal Shooting of Father

Leah Verona Scott, 43, was arrested Tuesday by West Palm Beach Police on charges of first-degree premeditated homicide and exhibiting a weapon on or near school property, records showed.
According to an arrest report, Scott was on her way to visit her aunt and uncle when she spotted her father, Leroy Scott, doing handyman work outside a home in West Palm Beach Tuesday morning.

The father and daughter got into a verbal exchange, and when he started walking away, she pulled a gun out of her waistband and shot him in the back, the report said.
She shot him three more times while he was on the ground, then fled the scene but was taken into custody after officers spotted her walking nearby, the report said.
Leroy Scott was pronounced dead at the scene.
