Hit-and-run Involving 17 Year Old Girl. San Diego police are investigating a hit-and-run involving a 17-year-old girl in the Carmel Valley area last week.
The incident happened around 9 p.m. last Friday, in the parking lot of 3500 Del Mar Heights Road, following the Torrey Pines High School football game.

To see something like that happen is just awful," said Cliff Thomas, the stepfather of one of the victim's friends. "So our concern is that we need witnesses to come forward to get whoever did this arrested."
As of Tuesday afternoon, SDPD said that the case had been directed to the Community and Youth Services division and that the driver is not in custody.

Surveillance video from that night shows the teen and her friends walking into a shopping center near a Bank of America. At that point, a car sped forward and struck one of the girls.
Police say the girl was treated at the hospital for minor injuries. The incident is being investigated as an assault with a deadly weapon case.
"It was very scary, very traumatic for the girl that got hit. The other girls are very traumatized by it, too.
